Does the cryo treatment need to be done on new rotors, or is it effective on parts already in service?
New is best but I’m sure it would help used parts.

Did track night at America at Daytona on Thursday.
Had planned to do all six session but I managed to crack a rear rotor.
No idea how that happened as the TC was off

My 3.73 rear end definitely held me back at speed in the backing. Struggled to do more then 140mph in 5th

After that I was flagging the chicane/busstop for Scca club races on fri/sat/sun. Great weekend

This is a bucketlist for me.

Chin has Sebring on their schedule 4-5 Oct then next weekend (11-12 Oct) at Daytona. DIS is 3h north of Sebring - and it's on your way home... If you go with Chin, they open up registration 60d prior to the event. Venues like these 2 will fill up quickly.
That is tempting, but being a CPA that October date is very close to my extension deadline. I will look at this closely.

Ran an Autocross event with the Corvette club, sparse crowd, hot and humid. got first place in CAM C, not a huge accomplishment only three of us qualified, one disqualified and the other didn't show. Of the eleven Corvettes, only three finished ahead of me, the three C8's. Heat index was around 105, winding as hell. Someone needs to remind these Vette drivers that they have about a size 20 rear end. Lots of passenger side cones were flying.

My favorite Corvette Autocross story was when I lived in Salina , Kansas - home of the SCCA Solo Nationals for about a decade. Asked to help the Corvette guys and assist with setting up the Course I was able to run my Rx-7 through the coned concourse and I accidentally ( on purpose ) out ran every Corvette including a B Prepared full race 66 Vette Coupe on race slicks. I was asked to ......................never come back, haha!!!

Brake upgrade and other assorted changes have begun:
  • Rear - GT500 14" rotors, caliper brackets, GT500 rear diff cover, ARP 3" long studs, fresh axle seals (needed after a day @ LSIR), fresh gear oil (forgotten how terrible used gear oil smells!!) and G-Loc R10 pads (finished last night).
  • Front - S550 6p Brembo calipers, 15" 2-piece Giro Disc rotors, G-Loc R12 pads, hubs w/3" ARP studs, SS lines, fresh hardware, etc (thank you cobrarob!).

How’s the brake pedal feel?

How’s the brake pedal feel?
Can't speak to that on my specific car yet, as I'm not done. Rear of the car is complete, can't start the front until later this week.

That said, at the most recent NASA SoCal event, a VERY generous driver allowed me to take his 2012 GT out. He had the same brake setup - GT500 rear, S550 fronts. Yes, the pedal went further to the floor than stock, but IMO, it wasn't terrible. The main issue I had was the inability to properly H/T since his car still had stock pedal covers that doesn't play well with my small-ish size 9s. I installed a set of SRP pedals on my Boss which makes H/T MUCH easier.

Put 3) 3/8" spacers under the throttle pedal, things get much more friendly.
That's the secret sauce I use with my raised aluminum floor pans.
I used to make them from scratch but I can buy them here so cheap I don't bother anymore.
I've tried a lot of different things, wider pedals just cause me to hit the brake and gas at the same time sporadically so no bueno for me.
I also have small feet at 9 1/2. Getting the gas pedal up close to the height of the brake is the ticket.

I like the Gloc pads but found the R12's did not last very long if pushed at the track. R16's are what I use now.

Ordered an auto blip, Apex VS-5 wheels 18x10 in satin black, and RS4’s in 275/40/18 to go with a square set up.
Save your money on the auto blip.
FWIW- if you put a spacer under the GAS PEDAL about .5 -.75" it will raise the pedal up enough to make blipping the throttle very easy and simple. Auto-blip almost killed me two times and they took no action. The way they tested it was as worthless as a 3 dollar bill. The answer was. "I put it in my are car the lights worked. Its OK".

Plus doing a heel toe on your own adds to a nice sense of driving skills.

I've been mistakenly using the term "heel/toe". In my case, it's not quite that. Years ago (late 1980s), my wife (then GF) bought me a one day Skip Barber racing school class. We were in Formula Fords. They taught the "yunga!!" method - right foot partially on the brake, rolling your foot onto the throttle to perform a rev-matched downshift. It's what I've used ever since, on every manual trans I drive, provided my miniscule feet can reach the throttle the same way. I've made adjustments for cars I'm unable to drive in that fashion, usually with my toes/front of my foot on the brake, heel blipping the throttle. I'm not quite as comfortable doing that as I have 3+ decades of "yunga!", a decade plus while racing.

When I bought the Boss, the throttle was too far to the right. To fix it, I installed a set of SRP "Grid" satin pedals with the medium width throttle. That solved my issues, allowing me to drive it like my former CMC race car.

IMO, there is nothing sweeter than a proper rev-matched downshift.

That's exactly how I do it. Ankle roll.

This is the way. ;)

Brake hardware pr0n. Front old and new:

Rear old and new:

The brakes had ~41+k miles, 5 race tracks/3+ track hours and ~2+ auto cross hours. The passenger rear pads were TOAST, leading to a damaged rotor. It's what finally got me off my dead ass to do all this work.....the parts have been in my garage for a full year.
