I'm sure it will be something small when it's all said and done. Feeling very deflated....

Going to pick up my car later this afternoon. The guy said that the clutch disc had some nasty burrs on the splines and that it wouldn't go on the input shaft. He cleaned up the disc and says all is well now.

Ha! I'm trying to keep things intact :) Yeah, I upgraded to a Spec stage 4 clutch and aluminum flywheel.

Yep. It increased axle noise, but to be fair, I don't have the harmonic dampers mounted on the axle nor did I have the rear seat installed. Still, it's going to be noisy--I expect that.

It works well so far. No clunking. The alternative was either a multimatic UCA, or changing religions and going with a torque arm, both of which are nice but substantially more and/or non adjustable.

It's interesting to feel how noncompliant the oem UCA is. It seems like it behaves like a mini anti roll bar.

The stock LCA (edit: UCA) gets damping from the rubber bushings. The stamping seems pretty rigid. The pros say you need a rubber (not poly) bushing on one side of the equation to make it all work properly.

Interesting. I left the rubber diff bushing on the diff side just because I'm lazy to change it. So it's "correct" to leave a rubber bushing in on one side?

The rubber bushing on the axle side is pretty stiff compared to the body mount side. Also difficult to change.

I wished BOSS 1049 Happy Birthday! It was three years ago today that I picked mine up from the dealer after waiting almost eight months from when the order banks opened on November 19, 2010. It's been a great three years. 8)

You want rubber or a bearing on one end to provide articulation without bind. Your new UCA will work fine with the rubber bushing in the rear end.

The best compromise would be an adjustable UCA with rubber on the body side and a bearing in the rear end. This would provide articulation while at the same time reducing noise. Of course, the rubber shouldn't be a big marshmallow like the factory UCA....

I've got the Steeda adj UCA with spherical bearing....works well but it is clunky ;D

Got my car back tonight after I had a Spec stage 4 clutch (6 puck), aluminum flywheel, new TOB, and SS clutch line installed. Initial street-driving impressions:

-pedal effort is greater than stock
-engagement is much quicker and more harsh due to solid hub
-it takes more RPMs to leave smoothly from a stop and doesn't like to be slipped too much

I figured these things would happen when I switched to this clutch but honestly I thought it was going to be much worse. I had visions of the clutch being so terrible on the street that I never wanted to drive it but that just isn't the case. I did a few high RPM pulls and the car shifted vey well. Looking forward to testing it out on track soon, where it should really shine 8)
