Does media make up the death rate from codvid in this country...closing in on a 1/4 mil...My little state of Ct is over 4600 deaths...............I didn't know they had beaches in Arizona...something to look into.....................
There is a saying in the computer industry. Garbage in=garbage out.
Again, if they are giving you inflated numbers how the hell do you know what the real numbers are? That's the point.
You may be honestly concerned and many people are, but if their judgments are based on BS information...then what?
If you choose to be scared, fine. Lots of people are, but that's what they want. A frightened populace is easy to control.
Myself, I am armed to the teeth and ready for the next onslaught of BS, and rest assured, it's coming.
You can choose to cower or you can stand up. This country wasn't founded by cowards.

This Country was founded by Men with a strong purpose to enjoy what they believed was their God given rights....Freedom...How much do We still have???.....I have the right to drive my Boss, Which I cherish evertyme the garage door goes up!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, until they outlaw gas engines....California governor already declared there will be no sales of new gas powered cars in a few years. (forget how many years but....f@ck him) That's my whole point...they are eroding our rights a little at a time and they do that by lying to us.

So, going back to the comments I made earlier, I didn't mention that I do a daily analysis (which is now fully automated) on the Covid cases and deaths in the USA. Why the USA when I'm a Canadian? Because there's just so much more data from a country 10 times our size. That, and the effect of public policy choices and political views really stand out - Canada's just too boring.

It's pretty clear from doing this analysis for five months that the numbers aren't perfect, but they're not bad either. There are corrections from time to time - sometimes up and sometimes down, sometimes one state, sometimes another. Errors get made and they're mostly corrected. As for faking the numbers, it's harder than it looks. Data is gathered and reported on a county-by-county basis for over 3,000 individual counties. It would take enormous discipline to get that many individual entities to deliver consistently fake daily data for months and months. So, yes, there have been stories here and there, and lots of questioning, but if it was really fake, the US numbers would drift further and further from what's normal in other countries around the world. And they're not - if you compare the US numbers of cases and deaths with global numbers, the death rate's not glaringly different from everywhere else. So, are the numbers perfect? No. Are they reasonable? Yes.

302bob. From personal experience, the worst part of Covid FOR ME was waiting for the symptoms WHICH NEVER CAME!!! Hell, I still had full sense of taste and has to rinse out the taste of the pills given. Why?? Over reported, Over sensationalized, OVER BS'd. While we are at it, OVER REPORTED. I was called twice by the state since I tested twice. I asked the second gal who called to ensure she input the fact that I was contacted twice, I tested twice, for the same encounter with the virus. Her answer.....nope, the system does not allow for that. Oversight or a flawed system, you decide. So, from my Personal experience there were overblown symptoms and over reported cases. Your Mileage May Vary!!

I dunno....I've seen a LOT of videos of medical professionals claiming that deaths are or were being reported as covid because there was a profit motive. Covid deaths were being funded by the government exponentially higher than other deaths and management was pushing for those diagnosis when it wasn't legitimate. LOTS of whistle blowers but in our cancel culture society they have been largely filtered out of search results or deplatformed entirely.

Happy B-day @Fabman - enjoy some drinks for me.

I think everyone has made up their mind about how they feel about Covid - how they're living their life, how they're reacting to the data being presented, how they're reacting to people who they disagree with on it all.

I can tell you that we continue to be cautious, mainly because we have family members who are considered high risk if they get infected. We don't want to be the a-holes who spread it to them. It's not fear - at least not fear for my own health. It's a sense of responsibility for my kids and the people I care about. We know people who have gotten it and had some bad issues. We know of people that have died. We know it's been politicized and weaponized in one way or another by everyone on all sides.

No need to argue about it here in the forum. Share information, let us know how you and your loved ones are coping and know that in here, we try and support each other as best we can - even if we have a different perspective about it. Let people take shots at each other over on Facepalm (Facebook).

@JAJ thanks for sharing what you found in your research. I have come to the conclusion that all news outlets out there are forms of entertainment or are in business to push ideology, maybe both. All of them have some type of slant, they're all mostly echo chambers. Take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt, and know that the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle, there is less reason to be outraged. Trouble is, it's becoming more and more difficult to have conversations with people who don't want to discuss all the same propaganda and rhetoric that you see all over social media. I'd rather just talk cars.

I look at it like the truth is obvious if you just look at history, distant and recent both. You can choose to see or not see.
I chose the latter.

I have no doubt that the folks arguing that the numbers are inflated are sincere, but even if they were high by 20%, or even 50%, would it really matter? It would still be a terrible mess, regardless.

A much smaller mess that maybe didn't necessitate closing the country and bankrupting so many people.

What I hear is:

‘My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with facts.’

This entire video is worth a watch.

Disagree.

The video has a clear pattern of interlacing easy to agree with facts, and the speaker’s (wrong/false) opinions.

Honestly, I couldn’t listen to him the whole way. Like taking advice from Michael Scott of the Office...but found the complete transcript here:

Path of part of the speech goes:

Stadium

Rent control

Healthcare

As if they’re the same thing. Nuts!

And his use of ‘midwits’. lol.

He’s a decent orator, but his spin on things...well, I’d say far from the truth.

And this is why I got off social media.

I'd have happily listened to some counterpoints. Instead I got assumptions about whether or not my mind is made up and a pointless jab at...I don't know what. You don't even have to go line by line, maybe just a couple of the more prominent things that you disagree with.

For example, I already went back and re-read the transcript (thanks Grant, much easier on the ears) and found it interesting that he uses stats from the UN, which many people also say are inflated. So he's basing his argument on stats while probably disagreeing with the same source about infection stats. Don't know if that makes sense, sorry. Seems kind of hypocritical but I know things aren't black and white either.

I'll go sit in my corner and pout for a while now.

It’s why I never really started.

But I don’t see a reason for you not to participate in discussion here as long as things remain civil.

Haven't regretted a day of quitting social media.

Oh I will. I can't help myself, I'm a glutton for punishment, but the doc wants me to keep an eye on my blood pressure (for real haha).
