Nope, Let the process work. People will see that the requirements are not systemic and not real. Forcing manufacturing to change opposite the market does not work out well for the entity that imposes the regulations. Where will the power production come from? How will we all charge vehicles? When the manufacturers were forced to increase mileage and emissions standards no other sector of transportation, power production and or infrastructure were involved. Today they are all involved but not included in the "Possible" future mandates. BTW, shouldn't something this big have to go through congress? I see these "Ideas" being crushed under their own weight.

Like when we made the conversion from mules and horses to ICE. Yeah, I remember reading how the President and Congress were all over that. Not.

Right now you can get Mach E’s for $399/mon no down. And Lightning pick ups for $50k. Why? Because not enough people want them. EV’s aren’t ready for the big time because of the reasons already posted ( or questions asked ).

If President Mashed Potato Brains really wanted EV’s to flourish he would shut up, stop regulations that inhibit business, especially in this field, and let entrepreneurs with the intelligence and money handle it. Then, as the auto industry did at the turn of the nineteenth century they could produce a superior system and product to todays ICE autos.

I still would not want one, but I believe that then people would be more interested in them.

The process is meant to fail. Individual transportation has always been a thorn in the side of authoritarians. The goal is to reduce the individual's independence and make them rely on public/government transportation. There will be a threshold of wealth which will allow personal cars, but that will not be a low bar.

So much for optimism.

Because these types of policies are working so well for New York...

Petrol and ICE is so ingrained in our society and life style that it‘s going to take decades to have the EV have the same flair as the gas/diesel is now.

Well, I guess add me to the rays of sunshine.

I just read an article where the chinese are going to build a battery manufacturing plant in Mexico, possibly, more than one. So when the potato head signs the order, they will be ready to jump on the bandwagon supply chain.

President Mashed Potato Brains lol wants you to drive electric to save the world yet flys in a 747 to campaign and fund raising around the country. DFW to Phx is 866 miles. What a hypocrite..
Yeah, we have the same shite up here with our loon in chief. The wannabe actor jumps on a government owned jet and shoots off for a jaunt to some warm spot for a vacay, all the while moralizing about how the rest of us need to conserve the environment. Plus he's just let a few million immigrants into the country who he knows will vote for him, never mind they'll add to the carbon footprint. Rural folk by and large hate him, it's largely the arrogant urbs in the cities that support him and his buddies in the socialist party. And it's the cities that emit all the pollution.
There is no hope, I'm just glad I'm in the last years and not the first years, it is not a pretty picture.

To all the previous comment above, I agree. However, I do feel hopeful. More and more people are beginning to see the agenda and resistance is building.
Back to the EV thing, look at how Lightning PU’s are now down to $50k and a Mach E GT can be had for no down and $399/mon. The demand is low and dealers are saddled with this inventory. It is not working. If our governments wanted it to work they would need to step back, keep their dirty hands off of it and entrepreneur's and smart people would build a product that works and is profitable. Just like Henry Ford, Chevrolet, etc.
All we need to do is stay focused on taking those products and continuing to make them handle better and go faster. Support our tracks and very importantly, VOTE. Even when it seems like p*sing into the wind.
I vote religiously. More importantly, I am almost ready to get on the track and begin a new journey. Much appreciation for what all of you are doing and do.

These new mandates will mean that greater than 50% of all cars by 2030 will be EV's. It's not really about selling anything . Keep in mind, EV's are just a stepping-stone to an autonomous system. The`authoritarians don't really *want* EV's as much as they see them as a means to an end. They'd be happier to sell no cars, and that's really what this is about.

Manufacturers are losing huge sums on selling EV's. The only way to lose money someplace is to make it in others. They've jacked the price of the gas vehicles up (the cars people actually want) to subsidize what they're losing on the EV's. One of the reasons that prices of gas cars have sky-rocketed in the last 3 or 4 years specifically for this reason. EV's are dropping. Soon you'll have a choice, EV or no car. Ya, you can get something old. We all will. Most people will not be able to keep them running, so it's not a viable alternative. They'll go EV.

I don't think gas cars or gasoline in general will be outlawed. That's too honest. They'll just make gas cars so expensive to own that it will be absurd all the while talking about how much 'freedom' EV's give. This sh!t is a strange combo of 1984 and Brave New World.

Who knows? It might give us all an opportunity to end up as a statue in the town square riding a rearing horse.
