The guy in the helmet, retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Larry Rendall Brock Jr, just happened to swing by the capital the other day to check out the sites. Always bring some zip ties with you, never know when you might need some.
Is that a legit statement? I can see no reason why a protestor would have zip ties to subdue a person, on the other hand, an out numbered security force is more than likely to grab someone in the building (not a protestor) that has some law enforcement training and throw some gear on them, that is entirely plausible.
So now, days later the tech mob has decided to choose sides, they have deplatformed Trump and a ton of conservative talking heads, when they migrated to Parler, Beezos has threatened to shut that down as well. They want o explain it by saying that they are not holding up their end of the community standards, and for sure there have been direct threats made (although I really doubt they have the capabilities to carry anything out) So it would seem that those calling the other side "fascist" are pretty good at implementing fascism.
Here's a lesson that had to be learned the hard way. I was on a 300 member fire department with basically, a horrible chief, cronyism abounded for his tenure, he slapped a stripper at a club, was caught driving drunk but was let off because he was the fire chief, it was a total ****show. When guys would come to him with problems, he would accuse them of lying or making it up, or not having all of the facts, and he would punish them. He couldn't do anything from a disciplinary standpoint because, for the most part there was no overt insubordination, but he would move them from their stations, make them the "move guy" to cover staffing issues all over the city, just gaming people.
Well he kept this up and I begged him to take these guys seriously, but he refused, I also told him to NOT drive this underground, as it was, he could deal with it, but sure enough he punished enough folks that they feared talking out. So there was a web page created called "us vs them" and it blistered this guy. There was enough facts there that eventually the mayor asked him to resign.
The point is this, the episode at the capitol shook the tree, now the influential side, the side that spends twice as much money on elections has decided to play the same game this chief did. Deplatforming, taking away the ability to speak ones grievances, or opinions. So the same caveat applies, don't drive this underground, there are about 80 million of those people out there and they are not stupid. They are also not "Trump" supporters at heart, they are middle class working slobs who are fed up with government not listening to them.
I noticed the photo of the confederate flag that made it into the capitol, (and of course the news), when my wife and I were watching this unfold we saw flags from Vietnam Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Canada to name a few, that somehow didn't make the front page because... ratings, and their agenda.
One of the things that General Grant, and R.E. Lee got right at Appomattox, was to actually end the war. Grant knew (and was vilified for it later) that he had to offer light terms to make it happen, Lee, being a West Point grad and an honorable person, also knew that if he didn't end the war RIGHT THEN it would become an insurgency and we'd probably still be fighting it, 100 years later, the British also finally figured it out and after decades of insurgent fighting they granted Ireland independence. It would seriously be a real bad thing to have that happen here in the US. there has to be a high level of individual representation in our government either way.
