Yesterday, I took my car to my regular Ford dealer for an oil change, brake fluid replacement (ATE Super Blue out, Motul RBF600 in), and the clutch concerns. They were able to duplicate the shift lockout at high rpms (with me in the car). Interestingly, the sticking clutch pedal issue did not manifest itself (acknowledgement to Rick
). The service manager had spoken to his Ford engineer, who acknowledged the existence of the problem and admitted that no fix was currently available. While there, I looked inside a 2014 GT500 and saw the assist spring pedal assembly
.
Does anyone know of a way to change the fluid in the clutch slave cylinder, other than dropping the transmission? We unclipped the clutch line and drained it, but the fluid in the slave could still be the original DOT3 for all I know. As that ages and absorbs water, I suppose it could contribute to the sticking pedal problem? Does vacuum bleeding the clutch serve to draw any of the slave cylinder fluid out?
Today, I called Ford Customer Assistance to follow up on my call from Monday. The CSR with whom I spoke said there was no record of my Monday call in the system
. He put me on hold for 7-8 minutes, then came back and said Ford was aware of the problem ans was working on a solution. He then gave me the name of the Regional Customer Service Manager, and told me I should expect a call from her within 2 business days. He also gave me a case number for follow up. I expressed my disappointment that Ford considered me and my concern so unimportant as to completely blow me off on Monday, for which I got an appropriately concerned apology on behalf of Ford (bfd).
So, add my name to the list of complainants. I wonder what the critical mass of unhappy Mustang owners is in order to get this fixed? Maybe just one, if he or she is injured badly enough. I hope it doesn't come to that.
