As you can tell, my dealer is a Ford Racing dealer.

They cannot install something they don't have.

It is only a software download the dealership should be able to get it via the internet or Ford Racing or whoever could FedEx a copy of the Trackey software overnight to the dealerships.

Why does FMC have to wait until the SEMA show in November to announce the date for the release of the TracKey? That sounds as if they are trying to buy more time.

I agree with all the BOSS Mustang Online and The Mustang Source posts that FMC should give each Boss owner the TracKey download at no charge.

I have tried several avenues to get the emission ratings of the Boss with and without TracKey but Ford will not provide me with that information.

I talked to Lisa Chiladakis at the California Air Resources Board Public Information Offices. She told me the emissions rating are by engine size and TracKey should not be any different than an aftermarket tune kit i.e. SCT Power Flash Tuner.

It is hard to believe the Boss with TracKey would have a significant higher Emission Ratings than the Shelby GT500.

If I read the "reason" correctly, they said they were waiting to train non-Ford Racing dealers. They didn't say they were waiting to train all dealers...

What type of training does a non Ford Racing dealership need? TracKey is not any different than any other aftermarket tune kit – plug and play.

When you buy it you might have to wait a day to get it installed. When I bought my Power Pack the dealer had to send in a registration with the VIN to FRPP before they would overnight the ProCal tuner. I would imagine Track Key will work the same way. I would question the dealer on the process and not assume that they know what needs to be done since my dealer is a FRPP dealer and they made me waste half a morning until they figured that out.

I've put a call into a dealership near me and one in my home state......neither have heard anything from Ford about Trackey and it's software.

Gary: If you hear anything in your neck of the woods, can you let me know. I wouldn't be opposed to driving up there if that's what it ment to get it installed. Also let me know what or if they are charging you anything.

Ok at the SEMA show they are going to announce the track key and when it will be out they did not say that it will be out yet? this is comming straight from ford today so who knows all I know is I told them directly that all of the guys who bought their car over a month back or two should get it free for the wait they made I did just buy my car so id have to pay no big deal but I do believe any of you that waited should get it free.

Don't hold your breath for free TRACKEY installs....do the math...Multiply $302 times 4000 BOSSES & tell me Ford is going to throw that $$$ away. I know, not everyone will opt for TRACKEY & some already had it built into their sales price, but I'm sure most will get it, if not for anything else, just for the novelty of having it.

3999......I doubt the wrecked LS will see anything but the scrapyard! LOL

Had a great time at Track attack. Here my impression of Track Key, without driving the red and black key back to back it hard to say if there is any power increase. The increased engine braking is vary noticeable. If you plan on using the red key on the street, and driving at slow speeds, you'll need to up shift two gears just to keep from looking like you can't drive when you lift off the gas. One thing I noticed was thet the Track Key engine management did not activate until the oil/engine was fully warmed up. The car would chime and display "TrackKey engine management active". It seem to take a little bit of driving even with a warm engine before it would activate. If nothing else, it's a good way of knowing your engine is fully warmed up. As others have said the ghost cams (with the disks removed) is real cool and worth the price of admission alone. As far as improving your lap times, unless your at near pro levels with your driving skills, your money would be better spent on driver training. ;)

Did they have the exhaust discs removed? They were still in the cars when I was there in August. My impressions on TK are the same as yours. While the throttle might have been a bit more aggressive it was not nearly as noticeable as the engine braking. I did not notice the chime and display when the car was warm. Nobody from the earlier classes posted about it either.

Who were your instructors?

Funny thing about the exhaust disks, when we got back from the heel toe exercise, one of the ladies said my car sounded the best. That's when we found out that my car was the only one with the disks removed. I was thinking they were all removed because mine were. I was in the "Competition" Orange and black Boss that's why it sounded best. ;).

"Who were your instructors?" Joe Foster was our lead instructor and also the instructor that rode with me. When we took my car out for the Instructor hot lap, he commented that he never driven one with the disks out.

When I watch the video of mine and Joe's laps, it's like mine are playing in slow motion.

It was good to get back on the track again. This car is a blast even if you only drive it at 5/10s :)

Email Questions:

What is the difference in the emission ratings between a 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 driving with TracKey and driving without TracKey?

Please include the Global Warming Score, Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Smog Score, Emissions Certification Standard and Annual Smog Emissions for the following vehicles:

2012 Ford Mustang Boss Coupe without TracKey
2012 Ford Mustang Boss Coupe with TracKey
2012 Ford Mustang GT500 Coupe

Also, I would like to know what issues Ford is having before they can release TracKey to many anxious 2012 Boss owners.
