302 Hi Pro said:Researched and priced twin disc clutches. Looked at McLeod RST, Exedy and RAM. Thinking about going with organic disc material with sprung hubs. I want to avoid chatter on initial start ups.
Came across this:

Anyone have experience with RAM?
All of these choices are SFI certified.
Thanks,

You're on borrowed time. I'd start planning your replacement soon so you don't ruin a track day. There I probably just jinxed it for you. :KBBOSS1086 said:As for my Boss, I'm still running the stock clutch with 34k miles and around 30 track days. Knock on wood...never had any problem and it still feels great.
F.D. Sako said:I changed oil and diff fluid as well. Also mounted my stock wheels/tires on to get the NT01s mounted on my track wheels. Can't wait to try the NT01's!
Need to do spark plugs sometime next weekend... or tomorrow, if it doesn't rain.
Cobrarob said:Post some pics of the 275/40 NT01 on your F14s...thanks
F.D. Sako said:Will do, once I get the chance to get them mounted!

I have no idea and Black Boss appears to be the first BMO member to have a RXT fail. More details from him later this week. With that said the RXT has solved my lock out problems and help save the trans from further abuse. To be clear my stock clutch never failed but I had shifting lock out bad. I had shifting lock out fatigue so I upgraded the clutch and have never looked back. Don't forget to change the slave/TOB as well.13Boss said:Rick, what is the durability of an aftermarket clutch compared to the stock unit? Something like RST for example, will it take more track abuse? How many days you can roughly extract from RST?
There have been enough stock clutch failures, especially on track, that I'm confident it will happen to most sooner or later. Yes the warranty will fix it for you but what if you lose a track day or worse yet having your clutch go out leads to other bad things on track to you or someone else? I think the adage that you can pay me now or pay me later applies here. It's your call.13Boss said:If my clutch fails (35K miles), I can theoritically have another OEM clutch installed for free under warranty up until 125K or 8 years ( Ford ESP). But my question is, durability and longevity in mind, will RST (for example) be superior?

Her interested in your impressions of this clutch once it is broken in. The chromoly flywheel looks pretty trick.....Black Boss said:Heard back from the shop today. Pressure plate is OK (what we thought was a crack on the scope turned out to be a dirt streak). However, one of the friction plates has failed-- apparently in 2 pieces. Not a wear related issue -- when we dropped the Transmission to replace the Slave 3-4 track days ago there was less than 20% wear on both plates....
Their view is that the RXT may not handle repeated hard engine braking and downshifts -- Both Mid Ohio and VIR and several other tracks I run have sections where I downshift 5-3 -- albeit with Rev matching from Auto-Blip....
Anyway, having discussed with the shop I'm going with a Race Clutch -- the Exedy ET04XD -- $$$, but I don't want to be dropping the Trans again, or losing a day or two at a distant track....

Swiss Boss said:Interested on your impression of that clutch too. Any Idea about the weight?
Also what made you decide between the Excedy vs the McLeod MagForce?
Black Boss said:Looked at both. Similar in price, but on balance there seems to be more evidence of the Exedy being race proven. Also it was in stock locally (going to the track at Mid Ohio on Monday to shake down before Road America in 10 days) also there's the option of switching the discs to 26 spline if/when the transmission fails.
As for weight, at this point I'm more interested in durability and the potential to upgrade......

Running about 95% water, 5% coolant (can't get it all out) and a bottle of water wetter for addition heat transfer capability. Then gave it a good cleaning, wash and wax with Chemical Guys foamer and products. Have new Carbo pads on the way and will be ready for Road America in a week and a half.
