The big brown truck stopped by today. The driver must have thought I was crazy.

Eight Nitto NT-05 275/40/18.
Should work well on the Enkei wheels I picked up a couple weeks ago, and the GT500 wheels that I'll get in the next couple months.
Now for a Strano sway bar (or front/rear set) to run square.

I understand from Filip at http://www.cortexracing.com/ that Toyo is making a batch of tires for testing this Spring.
According to Filip, these new Toyos will be of the right size & profile for the S197 and that they have a better wear duration, better grip & are less costly than Hoosiers.

Do you know if they are going to be 18" or 19"?

Very interested in these tires. I went through them like underwear last year. This car EATS tires on the track.

..315x18x30
Here is the wheel:
http://www.cortexracing.com/store/wheels/jongbloed-700/

- This is for Corex Racing's square set up with repositioned shock mounts (front), watts link, etc., found here:
http://www.cortexracing.com/store/suspension/2005-2012-mustang/track-package/

And yes, although I have always run Hoosiers on the track, for sure a 3600# car will go through them very quickly.

I think this car will benefit tremendously by being lowered 1.7 - 2.0 in.
& put the battery in the trunk..

regarding that TR hood in white....I'd really appreciate it id you could snap a few pics to show how well (or not) that color matches the Performance White. (I have a white car)....and if it's a close enough match, that would pretty much seal the deal for me as I wouldn't have the spend any extra money on paint.

Does anyone know if the CF version is meant to be painted or is it a finished gloss coat topside ?

It has an off white gel coat on it and needs to be painted

Afterthought:
Anyone (including me) who may be considering large rubber/square setups might want to take a look at this:

..Just a thought :-\

More boxes yesterday ;D A second set of 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 10.5 Enkei PF01s in Matte Black. No painting this time ;) Can't wait to put some shoes on them and test em out, but I'm going to have to since we just got 6" of snow :'(

Thanks. Yea I think they'll tie in nicely to the 'matte' black rocker, splitter and diffuser. The best part is I dropped 46 lbs of rotating mass off my other set of track wheels ;D

Sweet!
Now I need to go out to the heated garage to look at my Boss ;D, then get the snow blower out to move the snow without freezing to death at 0 deg and 25 mph winds. :(

Those rims are sweet Gary. Some day I will step up to them, besides the weight having a 10.5 and 9.5 would be the best setup for me.

Not really "Winter Mods" just "Not Summer Mods" here I guess.

Got the slicks mounted on a set of Shelby 9.5 rims from Dave at TrueBlueRacingParts (great guy). The tires fit very nice on that size. Also went to get my old drive shaft at the dealer, had to call a friend to help me lift it out of the truck ;D

Good idea but check Moroso, may be less expensive.

The only Moroso pan I could find was a 7 qt. "Street-Strip" for the 351/302, which is not the right engine (nor application). Maybe I missed the correct offering..
However, given FRP's R&D capabilities and commitment to the Coyote modular power plant (which in all likelihood exceeds a generic approach to the intricacies of keeping this wet sump unit alive under high lateral g-loads), I think a FRP 12 qt. RR pan backed by a Canton Accusump is probably the cheapest possible insurance.
For sure, those interested in running large rubber should consider such before finalizing specifications and the related requirements.

Gary,
If you don't mind, what did your Enkei's cost you including shipping? And where did you get them from?

They do look sweet.....can't wait to see some pics on the car!!

Scott,
Did you get the new 4'' aluminum drive shaft that CoolTech put out? They say it drops 19 lbs from the OEM shaft!!

Yep that is the one. Seems like I was putting more power to the wheels at Sebring but need to see if it had anything to do with the diff cover bolts coming loose. I need to more time to figure that out.
