Steves directions are for his car right? Which isnt a production boss. Maybe thats why.The stronger seat bolts make sense for stock recaros. Just a thought.

That's a good point.
Has any one taken any pic's of the install? I'd like to see where everyone is mounting their boxes.

For now, mine is mounted above the shifter on the console while I'm still fiddling with it. But since (as of today when I pick up my trailer), I won't be street driving my car, I will perma-mount it under the steering column somewhere, like Rick mentioned doing. Reachable by hand, but out of view. I already got like 5 gadgets velcroed to my dash. Getting crowded. :p

You must not have read my instructions (since you reposted the air bag/battery warning ;)). In it I noted the rear fasteners are 15mm nuts......on a 2012 Boss 302 with stock Recaros.

John that is very odd. You might have a 1 of 1 :)

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Starting to look like an airplane cockpit?

Ford probably switch to the 15mm bolt to speed up the installation time, easier to handle a bolt the a nut.

I probably didn't. This thread is moving so fast I'm only tail lurking it....my bad.,

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Not that I don't want to keep talking about my two missing nuts  but after pulling the seat, I dove under the dash and looked at the wiring. It appears there are disconnects for each of the wiring harnesses I will be tapping in to. Did any of you disconnect those to ease access to the wire?

all fixed up. thanks Andres!

turns out i have a different than expected wire color set on my accelerator connector. if you had 2 blue/white wires like i do, tap the second wire in.

Pufferfish - If I do have 2 blue/white wires, how will I know the difference between the first and the second so I ensure I tap into the second??

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Yes disconnect the connectors at each pedal, only way you will be able to do it. On the throttle connector there are 6 wires. You have to tap the 2nd and 5th wire along the connector. yellow/orange and the blue/white. No matter the direction you count it is always the 2nd and 5th wire. The other connections there are no color confusions. Take your time and it will be all good. Also disconnect the battery and don't turn it back on until all the wiring is done. I did and it caused me the problem during first calibration.

Mounted mine here.

Does not get in my way during driving.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

That looks like a good safe spot. I'm about a frog's hair away from ordering this thing.
Looking at that pick it's like your gas pedal is almost rubbing on the brake. I know it not, it's the angle.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

I think your right Rick. I just sat in mine and I've got stork legs too and my knee hit in that area. Maybe lower down near the carpet sort of inline with the trunk release buttons or centered below the steering column..

Check the photo I posted for the spot I might use. It's probably a couple of pages back.

Steve did you use Velcro to hold yours in place?

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

I am thinking to go with where Rick suggested in his previous photo post. I am half way through the install and it is going much quicker than I thought. Just the throttle connectors to go. I can only have my arms in that tight spot so long, so I am taking several breaks.

my concern is, and has always been, the braking zones after long straights, when downshifting multiple gears in one move (rather than sequentially downshifting). i could set the delay time to work for those braking zones, but it will fubar the single gear downshifts everywhere else. i am also concerned that i might not be able to prevent my feet from trying to heel-toe, since they are now on autopilot. we will see.

Hey guys!
Just wanted to comment on Pufferfish's concern about doing multiple downshifts at once, the AUTO-BLiP allows you to do more than one blip when downshifting multiple gears in one move. All you simply have to do is release the clutch pedal slightly following the first blip, this will re-arm the system. Keep in mind the clutch pedal interlock sensor is only active at the very bottom of the clutch pedal travel, simply releasing the pedal slightly to re-arm the system will not engage the clutch. Just be patient until you get used to how the unit works. I do this all the time on my STi.

Thanks,
Andres

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

I used 3M dual lock VHB Velcro. Also known as EZ Pass Velcro. Clear 1" wide has the interlocking plastic teeth, will not fail. Cleaned area with alcohol wipe and stuck it on. I'm 6'-1" 260 lbs. I haven't hit the unit yet with my knee so I think I'm good. You have plenty of cable so you can go pretty much wher you want in the front. I don't think you really will have to look or adjust it once you make your adjustments.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

It's installed, calibrated and working great!! Thanks to all of you that posted tips for making this an easy install :)

My tips:
1) Definitely worth removing the driver's seat.
2) As a first step, if you are going to mount the box near the steering column, either right or left, run the auto-blip wiring harness over the decorative panel, just below the steering wheel column. This was my last step and I ended up having to loosen up that panel to get the control box through so that the wiring can be neatly tucked into that opening.

Andres - There appears to be a typo in the instructions on page 4, steps 11 & 12. It states to look at step 6 in both of these lines and I think it meant to say to look to step 10. The devise is working great and your posts in this thread have been very helpful!

Congrats John! I'm guessing you'll talk me into one after BIR.

Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction Information

Just wondering what the common RPM-set is and wondering if dialing in a set point is working for all areas on the track? Would this be a suitable street mod?

On the street, I find myself downshifting at different RPM ranges for different turns and reasons. At 41, I've had a lot of years of practice and I'm reasonably good at it. I wouldn't want to suddenly have all of my blips potentially at the same point and be off from where I want them. Is it mainly best for track use while under heavy braking for slow speed corners, or does it just balance out overall?

After looking at the sight, and seeing the RPM setting, the question just came up. Thanks for indulging my curiosity.
