My impressions are very similar. I didn't catch the 6th gear exhaust cutout closing, but have so little highway time on it. What were the temps?? I see quite a bit of snow on the ground and doesn't appear to be melting. I'm surprised you were still getting good grip.

I was lucky, mid 40*s and sunny. That snow was 10-12" deep the day I got the call from the dealer on Monday

CHT got to just over 205* and Engine Oil 190* Trans and Diff were both cool. Not many/any days left with warm temps and no salt/ rain :(

10-4......pretty much got our weather a few days later. It's amazing the grip you get in the mid-40s and 50s......can't wait to try it in 70+* weather! 8)

Bring it down to AZ and let the flogging begin...still have track days and races going on through early December, then new season starts in January. Just sayin' :)

Would love to, but want to get 1,000 break in miles done first. May take the Boss down to Daytona next week for a winter break -- a bit closer than AZ ;)

Congrats, Nick! Your R looks great, and I really loved the new 'family portrait' you posted from the garage!!! Also extremely glad to see you and Todd ordered 'proper' R models...... Looking forward to following the enhancement during the winter and seeing you at the tracks next year.

Thanks Chuck,

There's only one way to order an R!

Look forward to seeing you, Luke and your Dad at the Track, Happy Holidays!

My sentiments exactly. But only 6 of us out of 37 actually ordered them the right way for 15MY.

Wow - 16%! Surprising given the track focus of this car. It took me over 5 hours to remove the A/C, Radio and Trunk Junk from the Boss.....

2 interesting details, the 'base' R still has a rear view camera, it's just not wired in and obviously there's no screen. Also no Floor Mats -- they are part of the Electronics package -- which in hindsight makes sense -- more weight!

That's amazing only 6 were ordered that way. For the record I would not have been one of them. ::) And this is why.

Took some more measurements on the car today:

Front Toe was 0.0. Track spec for 350 is 0.1* Out, Track spec for R is 0.06* In. This probably explains the Tram-Lining I mentioned in an earlier post for road use. For Street use I'd expect Toe In. For Track this is close to ideal.

Rear Toe was 3/32" In. Both the 350 and R Track specs are 0.3* in (1/8") In, So I will need to increase rear Toe for the Track.

Rear Camber was 1.2*, very close to the R Track spec of 1.25*. Spec for 350 is 1.00*

Front Camber was also 1.2* less than both the 350 (1.5*) and R (1.75*) Specs, so Camber Plates are needed.

I didn't check Caster as Camber changes will impact that.....

** Edited to correct rear toe spec

As cool as they are, there's still something uniquely special about the 21 car. It and its owner are one of a kind.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families.

Now that the mods can begin, I picked up a set of MM Camber plates today, on sale this weekend with free shipping too:

http://www.maximummotorsports.com/Mustang-Caster-Camber-Plates-2015-P1480.aspx

Patrick at Watson thought these would fit, and I checked the Ford service parts catalog, the top strut nut is the same GT350R/Base S550, so hopefully the Mag shock strut has the same diameter shaft.

Thanks for the heads up. Done. You'll get yours installed well ahead of mine so hopefully it all goes smoothly.

Thanks for posting up your alignment specs. Do you think they change at all for the GT350 once you change to R size wheels and 315s on the corners, or are the different alignment specs for the two cars only dictated by the shorter/stiffer front springs and shorter arm on the RSB?

Great question, but beyond my understanding of suspension geometry. I would hazard a guess that some of the increased camber on the R specs is due to stickier tires enabling higher cornering grip, but then as you point out the R has other changes.

I like front camber for extending tire wear as much as the added grip. I will probably go with something closer to the R spec of -1.75* (maybe -1.70*) and see how it goes. If I'm wearing inside tire edges faster than the rest of the tire I will go back to -1.5* Interesting that it's at least 1* less negative than we ran the S197s. I assume it's due to the double ball joint front strut design?
