lol. Yeah, that's certainly on the list. I learned 20+ years ago at Breckenridge and Vail. I have a sister who's just outside of Denver who used to live in Monument. I'll probably wait another year or two before going back though, it's easier to get them started locally and only a couple hour drive up to Big Bear. Just timing the local trips are a crapshoot.
I have a downhill driveway leading to the garage. I'm now an expert at sking, without any skis! I now have these add ons on my shoes for the winter with lots of "needles" sticking out. It's like Batman climbing up the side of a wall!
Man, Life is great when everything is going great! Just think about when it's not, For all those people still going thru hell after those hurricanes! Their lives won't be getting back to normal For a long, long time!. Just something to think about..............
If you enjoy what you do there's no rush but if you don't, you're counting the minutes til you can get out. I've been retired 2 yrs now and love every second! My Boss helps the time go by....
Took the Boss out for a nice ride today..Beautiful weather sunny low 70's. Tomorrow may get near 80 in some parts of the state.Tomorrow is the 6th anniversary of me picking up my Boss from the dealer.Seems like just yesterday...only 30K miles later....
More than a decade til I can get SS benefits or draw pre-tax funds without penalty...old is relative. I think I'm under the median age for the members here.
Retirement is the luck of the draw.....it's a crap shoot for some people who have a choice...others have no choice but to continue working. Health care is the BIG consideration with retiring. Grant 302 mentioned other concerns. Others are income and peace of mind.I took a chance when I retired but I don't regret it for a minute!
Agreed 100%. Took a big chance here. And healthcare was a HUGE consideration. Most don't understand how much it is when they talk about retirement. A former co-worker took a short break and had no idea. He thought our co-pay was gonna be the total cost.
Healthcare is the biggest issue to address when retiring. I've been blessed to be on my Hon's policy since she's still employed. But my friend who retired the same day as me lives alone. He pays healthcare premiums that are tied to his income (which I think is criminal!) He's afraid to touch his 401K for fear his rates will go up. Reminder everyone.....Tapping your 401K is considered additional income even when it was your income that put it there!!!
That's the funny thing about 401k/pre-tax money. The taxable income is deferred until you take it out. You got the 'tax break' up front - it didn't count towards your gross income in the year you contributed it to the 401k. I also have post-tax funds, and only the income/gains would be taxed when distributed.
